chatter matters week press release 2015
The annual ‘time to talk’™ chatter matters week took place earlier in March and our theme was ‘chatter matters everywhere’. We celebrated children’s communication skills during chatter matters week by organising events and raising awareness across the community. This year our Speech and Language Champions were extra-imaginative and came up with lots of ways to draw attention to the theme ‘chatter matters everywhere’. Here are some examples from our champions…

Bizzy Tots Day Nursery on Clifton Road in Rugby celebrated ‘chatters matters week’ in a variety of ways including a visit to the bus, a ‘welly walk and talk’ and a pyjama day with their favourite bedtime stories.

Helen Barboutis from Clopton Children’s Centre sent us some fabulous pictures of her ideas during ‘chatter matters week’.

“…then a small sea cave with instruments and shiny foil inside with the book the ‘Rainbow Fish’.”

We asked you to share your creations and hear about how you used your natter boxes during ‘chatter matters week’. Little Stars Nursery: “Our ‘natter box’ has been shared with the children at lunchtime today and shared on our facebook page with ideas for parents to get involved.”

And not forgetting, the ‘chatter matters’ bus was on tour around the county with the aim of reaching as many families and communities as possible. We shared lots of information about how to support children’s early language development. The children had fun too with the musical instruments, scarves, animals, cosy den and of course the slide and the ball-pit!
