In February 2017 we held our annual conference for Warwickshire Speech and Language Champions and managers. We focused on the value of rhythm, rhyme, stories and music across cultures in the early years.
We began with a noisy ice-breaker – a room full of kazoos!!
We welcomed Professor Kathy Goouch from Canterbury University who spoke with great passion about her research into the importance of the experiences of babies and younger children and their practitioners in childcare settings.
We also heard all about ‘Seven Stories – The National Centre for Children’s Books’ from Sue Walters, who also led a fabulous workshop about engaging families.
We talked about music and what it means to us…
…we learned a Polish song with Nikki Ajibade from Warwickshire EMTASS…
…we previewed our brand new ‘chatter matters’™ films…
…we showcased the work of our Speech and Language Champions and our partners…
…we gave out awards…
…and we launched our ‘chatter matters’ week resources and our social media campaign #singasongofsharing…
Thank you to everyone for all your contributions that made this such a successful day. We’ll see you next year!
