‘chatter matters’ week 2020 – ‘bear with me, share with me’

We celebrated ‘chatter matters’ week this year from 9th – 13th March 2020. Our theme was based on the national ‘chat, play, read‘ campaign, Warwickshire-style! We decided to use a bear for our campaign because that is part of the county symbol for Warwickshire. One of our talented Speech and Language Champions, Deana, came up with our slogan: ‘bear with me – share with me – chat, play, read’.

We collected ideas for activities for settings during the campaign week.

We loved hearing about your activities for the week. We also shared some new videos (see below), featuring lots of our practitioners and children interacting as they ‘chat, play and read’.

Willow Brooke Nursery in Nuneaton held a teddy bear picnic – this is the invitation they shared with their families.

Here is a display in the nursery welcome area:

We made some photo stories too. Lots to talk about here.

We also held a prize draw during ‘chatter matters’ week to win something a little bit special.

To enter, people took pictures of bears in unusual places (whilst chatting, playing or reading). See the selection below:

And to end the week we launched our new videos, ‘Chatting’, ‘Playing’ and ‘Reading’.
